Panagiota and Jamil’s beautiful wedding was our first time photographing or attending a Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony. We love the opportunity to experience new cultural traditions and this wedding gave us that chance. We started the day with a “reveal moment” at El Chorro Lodge, which is located in Paradise Vally, just North of Camelback mountain. We headed down the road to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church where coincidentally, a Greek Festival was taking place! They told us we could get up in front on the altar/stage at the church so we were up there with them for most of the ceremony. After the wedding, we jumped in the limo and headed back to El Chorro for sunset photos. With Camelback mountain as the backdrop and a great looking couple, this was easy (even though we had a crowd of 20 guest photographers trying to grab some photos while they could). We enjoyed the rest of the evening as we relaxed, ate a huge and delicious steak, and took pictures of the party. We had a great time with you, Mr. & Mrs. Abdelghani! Thank you for including us in your wedding.

Our time with Lindsey and Geoff started late Friday afternoon at St. Barnabas on the Desert, in Scottsdale near Paradise Valley for their wedding ceremony rehearsal. From there we headed to The Mission in old town Scottsdale for drinks and their delicious rehearsal dinner (thanks again for the spectacular food!). We had an absolute blast with this couple both days that we spent with them. The following morning we met them at Hotel Valley Ho where they were preparing for their big day. The suites at this Hotel are ridiculous. Lindsey’s room had a hot tub in the room, next to the bed, what the??
After everybody was dressed and looking good, we drove to St. Barnabas for their ceremony. From the sound of the church name we expected an old dark cathedral, but the church was very bright and colorful, perfect for photos! The church just had a million dollar pipe organ installed earlier this year, which was the backdrop for their wedding ceremony.
Their reception consisted of family formals near the entrance to the Desert Botanical Garden, a short 3 mile hike to the reception area, an hour of cocktails, some sunset photos, and a fabulous band from Kansas City that provided the entertainment for the evening. Their dinner was held outside and the weather couldn’t have been better. Saturday night was the first cool evening of the season! Check out these photos: (you can click the link in the slideshow to see the photos on Zenfolio, our image hosting partner).
This past Sunday we had the privilege of joining Bernice and Xavier for their wedding day. They began their relationship in high school exactly 12 years before their wedding!! How cool is that? Xavier has been in Afghanistan working while Bernice stayed busy making plans for their wedding. They picked a great location! We have heard about the Secret Garden for several years but had never actually been there. It was such a perfect place for a smaller outside wedding. My favorite spaces here were the bridal room, where Bernice spent most of her time before the ceremony, and the barn. The rest of the property was really nice, but these two spots were really cool, mostly because of the photos that we were able to get. Their wedding was so much fun, a mariachi band kept everyone entertained while we took family photos. Because the photos were one of their highest priority, we actually missed the end of their reception (last dance and exit) because we were taking pictures with the Rolls-Royce. When we got back, everyone was gone!! That was okay with us because we got some really sweet pictures of them!! We were able to play around with our lights which made it even better!
