Wedding Ceremony: Holy Cross Catholic Church
Wedding Reception: Villa Siena

This past Sunday we had the privilege of joining Bernice and Xavier for their wedding day. They began their relationship in high school exactly 12 years before their wedding!! How cool is that? Xavier has been in Afghanistan working while Bernice stayed busy making plans for their wedding. They picked a great location! We have heard about the Secret Garden for several years but had never actually been there. It was such a perfect place for a smaller outside wedding. My favorite spaces here were the bridal room, where Bernice spent most of her time before the ceremony, and the barn. The rest of the property was really nice, but these two spots were really cool, mostly because of the photos that we were able to get. Their wedding was so much fun, a mariachi band kept everyone entertained while we took family photos. Because the photos were one of their highest priority, we actually missed the end of their reception (last dance and exit) because we were taking pictures with the Rolls-Royce. When we got back, everyone was gone!! That was okay with us because we got some really sweet pictures of them!! We were able to play around with our lights which made it even better!

We are psyched to post these wedding pictures. Since we began shooting weddings in 2006. We have been showing a little “sneak peak” of each couples’ photos to everyone at their wedding reception on our 24″ iMac. We are always watching the guests reaction to the photos when we first start the slideshow. Usually, we begin the slideshow after dinner while some of the guests begin dancing and mingling around the reception area. We’ve become familiar with the typical reaction from the bride and groom, the family, and so on. Lauren and Ed’s wedding is definitely one of the exceptions. We have never (well, maybe 2 other times) received the reaction to our work like we did this past Saturday at Moon Valley. Everyone was so excited about the photos, which was surprising because most of the guests were outside enjoying the hand-rolled cigars (thank you to Willy Cigars from Chandler) and we weren’t expecting most of the guest to even see the pictures. But the brides’ smile was a bit bigger than usual, and we LOVE IT when we get that reaction! Saturday was a good day. Thank you Lauren and Ed for allowing us to celebrate with you!! Congratulations to both of you…

We were so excited to photograph Meg and Jeff’s wedding for so many reasons. This was our first wedding after taking some time off this summer and I think we actually started to miss going to weddings every weekend! Another reason, is that this couple is one of the sweetest couples you will ever meet or hear about. Their story is seriously inspring and their wedding day was a joy to be a part of. Meg (especially) has gone through so much this last year and her and Jeff have maintained amazing attitudes through the wedding planning process. We are so thrilled that they chose us to document their day.

I wish I had more time to describe Tonia and Carlo’s wedding. This was a truly unique wedding that Nate and I were privileged to be a part of. Thank you for allowing us to help you remember your wedding day! Also, thank you to Kelly and the amazing staff at the Four Seasons resort!

Here are a few of the sunset photos we took at Shelley and Tom’s wedding in early November. This was the second time we had umbrellas to shoot with so we took advantage of those – thanks to Tim Boyd. We’ve always kept our equipment bags as simple as possible to avoid having too many options to distract us from getting great shots, but diffusers make such a huge difference in the quality of that light. I am quickly becoming a huge fan of light modifiers and have become obsessed looking online at all of the options. Check out this couple’s slideshow if you haven’t already seen it –> Superstition Springs wedding photographer –> Here are a few of their sunset photos:

Saturday, September 12, was a great day for a wedding in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The air was perfect by the river. The Bosque state park has only been opened for about a year and it was obvious why Jenni and Ronnie chose this location for their wedding. Shauna and I had such a great time with this amazing couple and their families. A friend that I hadn’t seen in about 10 years showed up and it turns out that he was Jenni’s brother! See for yourself why this sweet Mesilla Valley location was such a perfect place for a late summer wedding in Las Cruces…

Nate and I (Tim S) photographed a wedding at Montelucia Resort for the first time yesterday. It is one of the newest resorts in Scottsdale, actually Paradise Valley, and is a picture perfect location for a wedding and reception. There is a beautiful chapel and bride’s room that was designed specifically for weddings. Other than the 108 degree weather, their day couldn’t have been any better. Christina and Dan are such a great couple and because everyone was so relaxed, we were able to capture some great moments throughout their day. (By the way, if you are planning a wedding in this area during June, July or August, think about hiring someone to follow you around with a portable air conditioner to keep you cool.) Luckily, they were handing out cooled, wet cloths for everyone to put on their faces and necks – awesome. There is an amazing spa at Montelucia where we stopped for a few photos of the couple. We walked up the huge spiral staircase, taking pictures of them along the way, finishing on the top where Nate took the crazy photo with the cool flare. We can’t wait to shoot another wedding at this sweet venue.

Nate started taking pictures of us when we are shooting and it’s usually while I am squatting in some stupid pose trying to get the shot, at least I was on the ground for this one…

And I got him back when we were waiting for the Ceremony to begin…
