Lindsey & Geoffrey’s Wedding! Hotel Valley Ho, St. Barnabas, Desert Botanical Garden, Wedding Photography

Our time with Lindsey and Geoff started late Friday afternoon at St. Barnabas on the Desert, in Scottsdale near Paradise Valley for their wedding ceremony rehearsal. From there we headed to The Mission in old town Scottsdale for drinks and their delicious rehearsal dinner (thanks again for the spectacular food!). We had an absolute blast with this couple both days that we spent with them. The following morning we met them at Hotel Valley Ho where they were preparing for their big day. The suites at this Hotel are ridiculous. Lindsey’s room had a hot tub in the room, next to the bed, what the??

After everybody was dressed and looking good, we drove to St. Barnabas for their ceremony. From the sound of the church name we expected an old dark cathedral, but the church was very bright and colorful, perfect for photos! The church just had a million dollar pipe organ installed earlier this year, which was the backdrop for their wedding ceremony.

Their reception consisted of family formals near the entrance to the Desert Botanical Garden, a short 3 mile hike to the reception area, an hour of cocktails, some sunset photos, and a fabulous band from Kansas City that provided the entertainment for the evening. Their dinner was held outside and the weather couldn’t have been better. Saturday night was the first cool evening of the season! Check out these photos: (you can click the link in the slideshow to see the photos on Zenfolio, our image hosting partner).

High School Senior Pictures – Nick & Nate in Downtown Phoenix, Arizona [and, yes they are twins].

I had such an amazing shoot on Saturday with these two guys. Their parents tagged along [thanks again, John for being my lightstand...]. We were blessed with an amazing sky that afternoon which, as you can see left us with an incredible backdrop for their pictures. Have a good Senior year fellas!

Win $100 – Visionyard Voting Contest!

best wedding photographer in phoenixOkay so hopefully you’ve heard about this contest. If not, click here, check it out and go vote! Arizona Foothills Magazine is having a contest to find the Best Businesses of our Valley here in the Phoenix area and we were nominated as one of 12 wedding photographers! We need your help to win. Well, we decided to make this a lot more fun for us and for you! To claim the title as Best Wedding Photographer in Our Valley (Phoenix) we are having a our own “Visionyard Voting Contest”. The winner will receive a $100 Visa gift card and we will donate $100 to Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep in honor of that person. CAUTION! This is sad, but really amazing!

Even though voting for Visionyard is so easy, we know that no one (except maybe our moms!) will vote everyday for 2 months. And instead of sending you annoying twitter and facebook reminders every 4 hours for the next 2 months, we want to make it easier for you to actually want to go vote (plus who couldn’t use an extra hundred bucks?). To make this fair, we don’t require that you vote for us, especially if you don’t think we are the best photographer listed.

Here is how it works…
Starting Thursday, October 7, 2010 (less than 2 days) you can vote for Visionyard once per person per day. For each vote you place, you must write a comment on our Visionyard Facebook Page. You can vote once a day until November 30th when the contest ends. We will count the number of comments from each person to find the $100 winner.

Requirements…
1. You must “like” Visionyard Studios Photography. Just click here:

2. You must actually vote here

3. You must comment on our Facebook page for every vote you place. You can just type “+1″ or “I voted today”

4. You must post the link http://bit.ly/bEAFNs on your Facebook profile at least one time during the contest. Just let us know when you do!

Here are a few conditions…
1. You must have a Facebook account to participate. If you don’t have an account, sign up, it’s easy. Plus, you should have a Facebook account by now.

2. This Visionyard Voting Contest is open to anyone including our family, fans, clients, and friends of any of those people. Send your friends a link to this blog post: http://www.thevisionyard.com/blog/?p=611 so they can read the rules and enter in the contest. Thank you to everyone participating. Have fun!

Any questions can be emailed to photography at thevisionyard dot com.

Bernice & Xavier’s Secret Garden Wedding in Phoenix, Arizona

This past Sunday we had the privilege of joining Bernice and Xavier for their wedding day. They began their relationship in high school exactly 12 years before their wedding!! How cool is that? Xavier has been in Afghanistan working while Bernice stayed busy making plans for their wedding. They picked a great location! We have heard about the Secret Garden for several years but had never actually been there. It was such a perfect place for a smaller outside wedding. My favorite spaces here were the bridal room, where Bernice spent most of her time before the ceremony, and the barn. The rest of the property was really nice, but these two spots were really cool, mostly because of the photos that we were able to get. Their wedding was so much fun, a mariachi band kept everyone entertained while we took family photos. Because the photos were one of their highest priority, we actually missed the end of their reception (last dance and exit) because we were taking pictures with the Rolls-Royce. When we got back, everyone was gone!! That was okay with us because we got some really sweet pictures of them!! We were able to play around with our lights which made it even better!

Here is the slideshow from their wedding reception:
